Elektronika, producers of Big Burns Supper, Dumfries Carnival & Carlisle Fringe are looking to commission freelance costume / prop makers as part of the project Dumfries Carnival which we are working on during the current Covid restrictions.
We want to support freelancers with experience of either Outdoor Arts or Major Performance projects to collaborate with us to design and make sections of the 2021 Carnival. You will work collaboratively with our lead Designer during this process.
This work can be carried out over the next two months from your home location, with materials being delivered to your home and being transferred back out again to our Community Hub in Dumfries once costumes have been constructed. Infection control measures will be in place throughout the process to minimise overall risk.
Sections of our Carnival vary in size, depending on the skillset of the particular maker. Some sections are of 6 costumes, and some are costumes for community groups of We anticipate this being around four weeks of work with project commission of £400 per week. Materials will be purchased on your behalf.
This opportunity has been made possible because of an award from the Culture Organisations and Venues Recovery Fund.
We will invite everyone to a one-to-one on Zoom where you can tell us a little about yourself and your practise and what you hope to get out of the collaboration. These are expected to take place on Monday 23rd and Tuesday 24th November with the work being committed by Thursday 26th November.
